Emission Reduction Projects- Showcasing Africa’s Solid Waste and Transport sectors.

The Eko Carbon Exchange hosted a Side Event on December 11, 2019, at the UNSDG Pavilion, IFEMA Conference Center, Madrid. The theme of the dialogue was Emission Reduction Projects- Showcasing Africa’s Solid Waste and Transport sectors. This conversation was meant to generate partnerships for the Exchange’s programme of attracting finance from the offset mechanism to fund low-carbon development.
This event was organized by the Eko Carbon Exchange, in partnership with Eko Innovation Center, SMEFUNDS, PoderGreen Consult and the Center for Agriculture and Climate Change, and the UNSDG office.
The overarching objective of the Dialogue is to deliberate on the solid waste emissions of mega cities and the sustainability opportunities in transport sectors, and other attendant issues. The Dialogue was set in projects that covers finance, capacity building, technology and carbon-free products development.
Technical Presentation
The Director / Chief Operating Officer of the Eko Carbon Exchange, Mr. Innocent Azih, in a discussion presentation, noted that the twin issues of solid waste and transport emissions were increasing in scale in Nigeria and other big cities of Africa. He indicated the projects that the Eko Carbon Exchange will be creating projects will include solid waste, energy, transport and agriculture sectors. Others are construction and construction, maritime, aviation and information and communication technology. He noted that the Eko Carbon Exchange was inviting the partnership of all economic and policy actors in Africa and the world. These will include Technology buffs, Policy greats, Business/ entrepreneurship actors, Project leaders and Sector leaders – Agriculture, financial, construction, etc.
